The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, delivers his Spring statement to the House, which includes a raising of the National Insurance threshold and a cut in fuel duty.
Main measures in the spring statement. A temporary cut in fuel duty of 5p per litre for 2022/23 (cost £2.4bn). An increase in the household support fund of £500m for 2022/23. The Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 is repealed after the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act receives royal assent, meaning that the Prime Minister will again be able to request the monarch to dissolve Parliament and call an early election, with 25 working days' notice.
